TRANSPORTATION
CENTRALIZED PICKUP + DROP-OFF
Harbor Haven offers centralized pickup and drop-off transportation for campers using NJDOT-approved buses and certified bus drivers. We follow all ACA, CDC, and NJDOT guidelines. Car seats are not required, but your child must be able to sit safely with a lap belt. If they are unable to do so, they may not be allowed on the bus. Parents or designated adults must stay with the child until the bus arrives in the morning and must be present for pick-up in the afternoon. The bus cannot wait for more than 5 minutes. Any changes in timing will be communicated by the bus counselors. Parents should contact the bus counselor for any issues that arise.
Morning pick-up times vary depending on the location of pick-up.
Buses will leave in the afternoon at about 3:30 pm.
If your child is over 13 years old, you are able to sign a letter giving your permission for us to drop your child off without an adult present.
Any toys/games your child brings on the bus will remain in a safe place during the day.
PLEASE DO NOT SEND FOOD, CANDY OR GUM WITH YOUR CHILD ON THE BUS. WE DO NOT ALLOW EATING ON THE BUS. WATER OR JUICE IS ALLOWED.
Note: If, for any reason, you need to pick your child up instead of sending them on the bus, please let the office know by 2:00pm. After 2:45 pm there may not be anyone in the office to take your call, as we will be preparing for dismissal.
ABSENCES
If your child takes Harbor Haven transportation and will be absent, you may contact the bus driver or bus counselors (you will be given their telephone numbers) but also call the office at 908-255-1052 as early as possible. If you transport your child, please report any absence to the office. Thank you.
PARENT TRANSPORTATION
If you are transporting your child by car, the drop-off time is between 8:50 and 9:10 a.m. Kindly follow our staff’s directions when arriving. There is no need to park or get out of your car as we have staff available to open your car door and assist your child in safely getting to his/her group. Please have your child on the PASSENGER SIDE of the car.
Please do not get out of line until you have reached the drop-off point, even if your child has been taken out of your car. Wait for staff to instruct you to exit. Following this rule is vitally important to the safety of our children!
Parent pick-up for children is between 3:40 and 3:50 p.m. If you arrive early, you will have to wait until the Harbor Haven buses pull out of the parking lot. If you are running late, please notify the office by calling 908-255-1052 ASAP.
For Bright Beginnings mini-day children being picked up at 12:00 pm, follow staff instructions when pulling into the parking lot. Pull up to the front of the school building. There is no need to park and get out of your car.
Please enter and exit the parking lot with caution!
Do not make a left turn from Harbor Haven onto Pleasant Valley Way. It is dangerous and illegal. If you need to go to the left, first go right then make your first left onto Tenney Rd. and then another left onto Underwood Road. That brings you back to Pleasant Valley Way, where you can then make a right and go in the direction you need to.
SCHOOL DISTRICT TRANSPORTATION
If your child is being transported by his/her school district, they will contact you with pick-up and drop-off details. When they arrive at Harbor Haven, they will follow the same drop-off procedures as stated above. At dismissal time, school district vehicles will follow the same dismissal procedures as Harbor Haven transportation. Please make sure you have contact information for the school district transportation. We would appreciate it if you would also provide us with a contact name and number.
