This summer of 2009, our 13th, was just incredible.  Our excellent staff, innovative programming, fabulous facility and your children, proved to be a winning combination for everyone this summer.  We were amazed as our children tried new activities, learned challenging skills, improved their language and socialization abilities and gained confidence throughout the summer weeks.  Their smiling faces and eagerness to attend Harbor Haven each day told us what we wanted to know; they were having a magical experience at Harbor Haven!

The children of Harbor Haven experienced so many sizzling specials in addition to our regular exciting programming  this summer!  Interactive entertainment galore helped mark our 13th birthday celebration.  Our Olympic Day was truly outstanding, with full participation by the White and Blue teams!  The annual Carnival was awesome with exceptional games and prizes as well as the snow cone makers!  Harbor Haven Idol Day was the best ever with our groups all taking part and individual talent being showcased.  In addition, the trips, teen overnight, inflatables  and waterslides all made for a summer of non-stop fun and learning.  The happy, yet tired children we sent home at the end of each day, came back refreshed and eager for more the next morning.

Our state-renowned and certified program is also accredited by the American Camp association. The ACA is the national body which endorses programs that comply with the very strictest of codes and regulations and have passed their rigorous inspection. In addition, we meet and surpass the standard of the state and local health departments which make us a safe and healthy environment for your children.

Some of the elements that make up a quality program are staffing, activities and facility. We are fortunate to attract many experienced and caring professionals who return summer after summer. In addition, our college and graduate level students come from numerous institutions within and outside of New Jersey. They are carefully selected and most are pursuing careers in special education or a therapeutic area.

Our facility combines the best of the outdoor world with the comfort of a modern, bright, and air-conditioned inside setting. The 8-acre private school site is perfectly compatible with the needs of our children and provides great indoor space for rainy days.

The Harbor Haven program is comprised of many diverse activities covering a broad array of skill sets for the children to master. Two unique features of Harbor Haven are the daily academic period and the social skills training your child will receive.  Keep in mind also, that we have group sensory-motor and speech for children ages 3-9 and individual speech and occupational therapy available for all ages.

 In addition to our core program, we hold special event days, trips, and special workshops and we bring in lots of outside entertainment. Hardly a day goes by when one division or another doesn’t have a unique activity going on.

Harbor Haven is especially known for our ages 3-5 programming.  “Bright Beginnings,” our
3-5 year old division, is uniquely constructed to provide mildly delayed young children with a comprehensive approach that addresses all of their issues. Parents and professionals know that the earlier we work on a child’s needs, the more likely he/she will “catch up” with typical peers.

As in previous summers, our division age groups will be as follows:

Bright Beginnings: 3 and 4 year olds Either Mini Day (9:00 am-1:00 pm) with up to 4 afternoon extensions available, click HERE or Full Day (9:00 am-3:40 pm) 5 year olds Full Day (9:00 am-3:40 pm) Juniors: 6 and 7 year olds   Intermediates: 8 and 9 year olds   Seniors: 10 and 11 year olds   Tweens: 12 & 13 year olds   Teens: 14 & 15 year olds

Transportation is available, in most cases, except for the afternoon 1:00 pm dismissal time for 3 and 4 year olds who attend from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm.
