The 2010 T.A.G. (Teens Achieve Greatness) program aims to introduce our teen division (ages 14-16) to the work world, help them develop skill in independence and teach them how to access important resources in the community. Each week the participants will go on a supervised, out-of-camp experience which will be related to the T.A.G. goals. For example, out-of-camp experiences may include utilizing a laundromat, practising bank transactions or participating in a mock supermarket shop. Another portion of the program will afford the teens an opportunity to pick a job site at Harbor Haven according to their interest, such as working with younger children. During this hands-on experience they will receive personalized job coaching. Each participant will earn Harbor Haven money for completing their particular job assignment. Money earned can be used at the Harbor Haven Canteen shop to buy fun items! Harbor Haven’s goal is to help each child begin to understand the connection between school, work, independence and achieving goals.
