Sarah Tanne, On-Site Director

Sarah is no newcomer to Harbor Haven.  The summer of 2009 will mark her ninth year within the Harbor Haven organization having started as a group counselor, then assistant supervisor, supervisor, assistant director for three years in Marlboro and now director.  Having worked in two other camp settings prior to Harbor Haven, she is now entering her eleventh year in summer program management. 

Sarah has a Bachelor’s Degree in Rehabilitation Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  She obtained her Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from New York University and is a licensed school counselor in the state of New Jersey.  She began her career as a school therapist in two private school settings.  In this capacity she provided direct mental health services which included intake assessment, individual/group therapy, and crisis intervention. 

Currently, Sarah is working as a school therapist at Washington Academy, a school for children with special needs, where she is responsible for recognizing, assessing and intervening with children exhibiting various behavioral and learning disorders.  Additionally, Sarah is an integral part of student Individualized Education Plan meetings.  She is responsible for psychologically and emotionally assessing students’ cognitive ability and learning styles for the purpose of educational planning.  She is accountable for consulting with professionals who are involved with the students in order to make achievable and appropriate recommendations and plans for each child.  Sarah also maintains liaisons with community agencies, parents and teachers to ensure comprehensive and effective service delivery to the students. 

Sarah works part time throughout the school year in the Harbor Haven office.  She is instrumental in staff development, event programming, and creating curriculum for both the West Orange and Marlboro summer locations.  She brings a lot of creativity, knowledge, experience and skills to her position as summer director in Marlboro and is looking forward to another great summer!  .

Dana Moyle-Assistant Director

Dana obtained her special education degree in 2005 from William Paterson University where she graduated as a Presidential Scholar and made Dean’s List all four years. While in college, Dana worked in a number of special education settings from pre-school up to high school.  Upon graduation in 2005, the Edison Public Schools were wise in hiring Dana as a special education teacher. Dana is now a tenured teacher, and has almost completed her Master’s Degree in learning disabilities at Kean University.

Dana has worked in summer environments and recreational settings since high school.  She has served as a swim coach and instructor for Special Olympics; she has coached kiddie soccer and has been a certified lifeguard and swim instructor in various programs for many years.  Dana speaks basic sign language and is a member and past Vice-President (at William Paterson) of the Council for Exceptional Children.

In the summers of 2005 and 2006, Dana was the pool director at Harbor Haven in Marlboro. She played an integral role in setting up the instructional swim program that has made successful swimmers of numerous Harbor Haven children.  After that, Dana became the supervisor of Upper Camp and lent her wisdom, maturity, knowledge and skills to the eleven and over groups at Harbor Haven.

Dana is an energetic and enthusiastic professional.  Harbor Haven is very fortunate to have Dana as assistant director for 2009!
