Music

Joanne Schlacter - We are excited to have Joanne join our performing arts team this summer.  Joanne is a board certified music therapist, and also certified as a yoga instructor for the special child.  Joanne works for the Jersey City Public Schools as well as maintaining a private yoga and music therapy practice.  Joanne is looking forward to bringing her own brand of “camp music” to Harbor Haven this summer.

Drama

Teresa Serio-Teresa is a nationally certified mental health counselor.  She has worked with special populations in a variety of settings since 1989.  We are delighted to have Teresa as our drama specialist this summer.  She has been involved with children and adolescent theatre for many years, and was the creator/facilitator of a self-expression and dramatic workshop at the St. Augustine Community Theatre in Florida from 1998-2004.

Cooking

Nona Seid-Nona has been our cooking specialist for many years (too numerous to count!)  Nona is a certified nutritionist and a great cook!  The children love going to “Nona’s area” and love the great recipes she has for them each summer.

Photography/Bikes

Philip Shenton-“Photo Phil” as the children call him, is coming back for his second year as part of the specialist staff at Harbor Haven.   Phil currently teaches high school English for the Paterson Board of Education.  Phil has his BA in English, his MA in Journalism.  He is a skilled photographer and an avid bicyclist.  Welcome back, Phil!

Our Therapists

All of the speech and occupational therapists who work at Harbor Haven are fully board certified, school certified, licensed and experienced in working with our population of children.  They work for school districts, therapy centers and privately.  We are lucky to have many of them return to us each summer.
