We are pleased to announce the successful completion of the third summer at our Marlboro location. While many schools provide a summer component, the opportunity to facilitate your child “getting into the game” of appropriate social interactions with peers, does not always exist. We know that the need has been great in your area for a comprehensive summer placement that provides structured, consistent programming targeting attention, social, behavior, motor, communication and cognitive skills. Our program blends support and reinforcement with traditional “camp” activities. This has proven to be a winning combination for children with AD(H)D, mild spectrum disorders, and other learning, social and communication challenges. We also provide therapeutic intervention as needed with our experienced speech and occupational therapists, and socialization groups run by skilled facilitators. We do all of this while maintaining school-related skills in our learning center.
Who are we? We are Harbor Haven located in Marlboro. Our “sister” program in West Orange, has been operating for eleven years. Harbor Haven in West Orange, is renowned throughout New Jersey as the premier program for children with mild special needs. It has become the summer program of choice for parents and professionals in nine counties, plus New York City. It fulfills the need for a goal-oriented summer of growth and learning. Harbor Haven – Marlboro follows in the tried and true tradition, with highly experienced education professionals, trained staff, small compatible groups and organized structured programming.
Our youngsters sizzled in more ways than one this summer! We had our third annual Olympic Games. Our Talent Show was awesome -- what a way to showcase the individual and collective talents of our children. Our carnival really rocked with exceptional booths and great prizes! Lower Camp had great entertainment, special workshops and trips including: Wondergy, Talent sprouts workshop, Fun on a String Puppet Show, Story Hour Interactive Show, Music Academy, Pony Workshop, Build-a-Bear and Ricky’s Candy Cones & Chaos. The trips for Upper Camp were awesome! They went bowling, to Young Chef’s Academy, Tennis, Fun Time America, Rock Climbing, Mini Golf and roller skating. The waterslide, the entertainment and of course, our regular wonderful programming, all added up to non-stop fun and learning! The happy and tired children we sent home at the end of each day, came back refreshed and eager for more the next morning.
Throughout the summer, and after, parents of our children give us lots of feedback. Their words express far better than we can, the benefit of a “Harbor Haven” summer of discovery.
“My son, who “doesn’t like sports” now plays volleyball, basketball, hockey, tennis, softball and soccer. He was able to make a few friends and work on his social skills in your safe, friendly and accepting environment.”
